GREATER TORONTO, December 11, 2007 - Michael Moldenhauer, President of Moldenhauer Lifestyles, was elected 2008 President of the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) at the association's annual general meeting last week in Toronto.
Moldenhauer Lifestyles is a signature property developer with a west-end focus on high-end, low-rise and condominium developments in south Toronto, Mississauga and Oakville.
Michael Moldenhauer has been integrally involved with his industry association over the past several years, which will allow him to hit the ground running at a pivotal time for the industry.
"This will be our first full year as BILD and it's an opportunity to solidify the brand in the minds of politicians and staff at all levels of government. Fortunately, I don't have to re-invent the wheel. I need only remind our stakeholders that our aim is to build a Greater GTA because it's the place where BILD members live, work and play. It's their home and it's my home too," said Moldenhauer.
The broad themes of Moldenhauer's presidency will include advocating for housing affordability and choice, extending his predecessor Bob Finnigan's solid track-record for promoting sustainable development and green building, and highlighting the many ways BILD and its members give back to the community while encouraging them to keep up the good work.
Moldenhauer noted that his top priority with the provincial government will be implementation of the Greater Golden Horseshoe growth plan including streamlined development and infrastructure approvals in the areas slated for growth.
"The first four-year mandate of the McGuinty government was quite activist in terms of the land development and homebuilding industry. We look to the next four years as an opportunity to work with the provincial government to ensure our industry can continue to uphold provincial economic growth in the face of challenges to other sectors," Moldenhauer said.
