BILD recognized for green leadership

Collingwood, Feb. 4, 2010 - The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) has been selected as the recipient of the Leader of the Year award at the 2010 EnerQuality Awards of Excellence in Collingwood.

The Awards were presented on February 4 during the Ontario Home Builders' Association Forum at Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood. BILD shared the award with fellow nominee George Smitherman.

"This award reflects BILD's strategic objective to actively promote best practices in sustainable development and green building," said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis. "The award recognizes the wide-ranging green initiatives undertaken by BILD, including green education and training partnerships, demonstration projects like the Archetype Sustainable House and pending projects like the Local Energy Efficiency Pilot Technology Adoption Project."

Dupuis acknowledged the role of 2007 Association Chair Bob Finnigan as the champion of BILD's green commitment, and the ongoing leadership of BILD's Green Education Committee since then.

This is the Association's first participation in the EnerQuality Awards of Excellence. BILD received two nominations, the second being for Industry Partner of the Year.

With more than 1,300 members, BILD, formed through the merger of the Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association and Urban Development Institute/Ontario, is the voice of the land development, home building and professional renovation industry in the Greater Toronto Area.  BILD is proudly affiliated with the Ontario and Canadian Home Builders' Associations.
