Mattamy Homes crowned 2011 Home Builder of the Year

TORONTO, May 2 - Mattamy Homes was named 2011 Home Builder of the Year by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) at the 31st Annual BILD Awards, held April 29, 2011.

Originally established in 1998, the Home Builder of the Year award was created to recognize the builder who sets the standard for the rest of the industry by their leadership in improving the overall image of the industry. The award is based on quality, service and customer commitment from the moment the agreement of purchase and sale is signed right through to post-closing service period.

To qualify, BILD requires a list of the builder's recent occupants in various communities who, in turn, rate their satisfaction with the builder by completing a BILD-issued survey.

Mattamy Homes is no stranger to this award - the BILD Awards' most prestigious honour - having won Home Builder of the Year thrice before in 2001, 2007 and 2009.

"To say that Mattamy's victory is not surprising would be an understatement," said BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis. "This is a builder that's well-known for quality, not only in home building, but also in customer satisfaction and giving back to the community."

In 2010, Mattamy Homes donated over $2 million to local communities and charities, on top of a $10 million donation to the new Oakville Hospital by the company's CEO Peter Gilgan.

Throughout the night, BILD's social media team documented the event's proceedings with live updates via TwitterFacebookYoutube and BILD's official online blog. For a complete list of recipients, as well as winners from previous years, visit
