Dear BILD members:

Today, the provincial government announced that it is imposing a province-wide shutdown as of 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 26, 2020, as a measure to limit the spread of COVID-19. The new measures will be in effect for 28 days in public health units in Southern Ontario and 14 days in public health units in Northern Ontario. Read the full media release.

Construction and companies supporting construction, including demolition services, continue to be deemed essential workplaces and will continue as previously, with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.

While sales centres may remain open, they are only allowed to do so on a “virtual or by appointment” basis, and with appropriate COVID-19 protocols in place. We strongly encourage members to respect the intent of the shutdown and conduct business virtually as much as possible.

BILD and OHBA released a joint statement supporting the province-wide shutdown. As a precautionary measure, BILD offices will also be closed during this time period, with staff working remotely and available by email and by phone. See our staff directory and contact information.

Given the surge in cases and the responsibility of operating as essential workplaces, I strongly urge all BILD member companies to revisit their COVID-19 protocols and take all necessary steps to protect workers, clients and members of the public. As a reminder, the Ontario government website has sector-specific COVID-19 guidance and protocols

Sincerely,
Dave Wilkes
